The pool is open!

It finally feels like summer is here! The pool opened over the weekend, and I took the boys yesterday. What a great time we had...Aidan spent most of his time on the waterslide and Alex spent most of his time holding onto the wall with me right by his side.

Alex's 1-yr pictures

I finally took Alex out for some "formal" pictures. I meant to take him out soon after his birthday, but he's actually 13 months in these pics. He is at a really tough age for pictures, because he does not want to sit still, and he does not want to look at the camera. He's way too interested in the dirt and the bugs crawling around on the ground. I made my favorite pictures into the 8x14 collage below, and Brian is going to build a frame for it so we can hang it in our home. The other picture, I'll probably hang as a 5x7.

Diapers

We did it...
We made the switch...
We are using cloth diapers now.
So far, it's going great and Alex doesn't seem to mind the difference. They are a bit bulkier, as you can see, but they don't leak!

FlyLady

http://www.flylady.net

I love this website. It can be quite intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, it can become your new best friend. With the help of Fly Lady, I have organized my home and keep it clean most of the time. She posts a mission for you to do every day- things that you normally don't think of doing. This week she's having me work on my kitchen, and so far, I've wiped down all of my cabinets and cleaned the top of my refrigerator. Today I'm supposed to clean out my refrigerator and really wipe down the shelves and drawers. I never would do these things, if it weren't for Fly Lady. And now I will never have to spring clean again!

Going Green

I have been inspired to do my part in saving our environment. We've been using fluorescent lightbulbs for a while now, which uses 2/3 less energy than regular lightbulbs. The next step in my endeavor was switching to biodegradable cleaning products. I packed up all my old cleaning products- Pledge, Windex, Softscrub, etc. and bought a wonderful line of cleaning products from Target, called Method. Not only do these products smell great, they are non-toxic, so they are safe for my kids and my environment. They are made from all natural ingredients and work just as well, if not better and cost only $2.99 a bottle. Everyone should make this switch.

Aidan's struggle with sleeping

On Sunday, we decided that Aidan is going to bed too late, and waking up way too early. So we also decided it was time to banish naptime. Sunday was the first day he didn't take a nap, and although he went to bed early Sunday night, he still woke up early Monday morning. And he was a grump! We went to gymnastics at 9am, and at 9:15am we were heading back home because he did not want to participate. We got home, and I sent him straight to bed, were he proceeded to take a 3-hour nap. This is not how it was supposed to happen.

On Tuesday morning, he slept in! Sleeping in for Aidan is 7am. I was going to skip his nap again. To my dismay, he once again fell asleep, this time while playing with his trucks...

I only let his sleep 40 minutes this time, and he woke up a grump again. We put him to bed early, but he didn't fall asleep until well after 9pm. But he did sleep in again this morning (7am). I guess we'll see what happens today...
